If autumn is here, can winter be far behind? The cold wind is already chilling our bones, especially if you are a morning commuter.

Look no further. QuikFix recipes has come up with 3 great recipes to beat the cold days ahead. Tuck in and slurp up on these recipes – perfect as meals or even snacks.

TRADITIONAL CHICKEN CURRY

Serves: 4

Preparation time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 6 chicken pieces
  • 4 medium potatoes, cut in half
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 6 cloves garlic freshly pounded
  • 3-4 green chillies sliced along the length
  • 100 gm plain yoghurt
  • 2 heaped tablespoon curry masala
  • 2 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon cooking oil
  • 1 teaspoon ghee
  • Steamed rice or roti

Method:

  • In a deep pot, pour cooking oil.
  • Once it is warm, put onion and garlic.
  • Stir till they look slightly brownish. Add the potatoes.
  • Add chicken pieces and stir till they get a light brown coating.
  • Add the masala, yoghurt, chillies.
  • Stir and add a cup of water for gravy/ broth.
  • Cover and cook till the potatoes and chicken are cooked.
  • Add vinegar and ghee.
  • Simmer on low heat till the oil rises above the gravy.
  • Serve with steamed rice or roti.

 

CHICKPEA SALAD

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Serves: 2

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of chickpeas in brine
  • 1 carrot chopped
  • 1 medium-sized boiled potato
  • 1/4th of an onion chopped
  • 1 cucumber diced
  • 1 tomato diced
  • 2 green chillies chopped
  • 200 gm couscous soaked
  • 4-5 ham slices or roast chicken shredded (optional)
  • Cheddar cheese to taste
  • Fresh parsley or coriander chopped

Method:

  • Drain and pour a can of boiled chickpeas into a bowl.
  • Add chopped carrot, boiled potato, onion, cucumber, tomato, fresh green chilli.
  • If it is vegetarian, add soaked couscous.
  • If non-vegetarian, add strips of ham slices or shredded chicken and cheddar cheese.
  • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley or coriander leaves.

 

JHAL MURI/ BHEL PURI

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Serves: 4

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Puffed rice/ muri/ mumra
  • 1/4th onion chopped
  • 1 teaspoon chopped ginger
  • 1 diced cucumber
  • 1 diced tomato
  • 2 green chillies
  • 100 gm savoury snack (chips or bhujia)
  • 2 teaspoon chaat masala
  • Chopped coriander leaves
  • Lemon juice

Method:

  • Take puffed rice in a deep bowl.
  • Add chopped onion, ginger, cucumber, tomato, fresh green chilli, and any kind of savoury snack (chips, bhujia).
  • Then, add some chaat masala.
  • Mix them well.
  • Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and a dash of lemon juice.
