New Zealand Labour Party’s latest inner-party ranking list has been announced. Among the top 50 MPs, there are two Chinese New Zealander members. MP Raymond Huo ranked 12th and a university student Chen Naisi ranked 49th.

In an attempt to promote the rankings in the party, Raymond Huo said that this is both an achievement and a responsibility. “This is the third time for me to attend the Labour Party inner-rankings. For my promotion in the ranking, I’m indeed very happy; but it can be said to be ‘not spoiled by the favoured or the unfavoured’ (a Chinese idiom). The work out there is still the same to do,” said Huo.

He said this inside-the-party-ranking list indicates that Labour Party really comes to court the Chinese voters, and he further emphasised that Labour has always facilitated the relationship between New Zealand and China. Therefore, he is very proud of himself being a Labour Party MP.

Chen Naisi is a Chinese New Zealander girl who was born in the 1990s and is now studying at the University of Auckland. Huo intends to cooperate with Chen in the future to introduce the policies of Labour Party more explicitly to the Chinese community.
